Meridian Education Foundation

The MERIDIAN EDUCATION FOUNDATION, as the name suggests, has as its mission to help support the charitable efforts of not-for-profit organizations throughout the Meridian School District.

What is the Meridian Education Foundation?

The Foundation is governed by a seven-member volunteer Board of Directors from across the geographic area of the school district.  It operates as a tax-deductible, not-for-profit organization, completely independent of the Meridian Unit School District.  The challenge is now up to us to continue the growth of this venture.  The Board manages the resources as an endowment.  It distributes the earnings in grants to the greatest need within the Meridian School District.  The Board approves grants from its designated and unrestricted funds in response to applications from community organizations or at the recommendation of the donors.  It also serves as the neutral leader with no affiliation with any group, religion, or political or government entity.

What is the Mission?

The goal of the Meridian Education Foundation is to enhance, enrich, and promote educational programs and facilities available to students in the Meridian CUSD #223. The Foundation will supplement the educational programs through support for activities, special equipment, scholarships, and staff and program development.

How does it work?

The Meridian Education Foundation is an IRS tax-exempt, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.  As one of more than 400 similar organizations throughout the country, it provides a way for many to enjoy the benefits of charitable foundation giving.  By pooling the gifts of many and preserving capital, the Foundation provides the most cost-effective and efficient way to provide resources, in perpetuity for the future generations in the Meridian Unit School District.  The Foundation intends to support all aspects of our school - education, health, and welfare, culture, and recreation.  It also will flourish through the concerns and caring of others throughout the district.

How can you join the Foundation?
